Reclast for Bone Loss
Reclast: Once-a-year treatment for osteoporosis

Hinsdale Hematology Oncology Associates now offers Reclast infusions for the prevention of osteoporosis. Reclast is administered by our oncology certified nurses, in the comfort of our infusion rooms. For further information, call our office at 630-654-1790 or visit www.reclast.com.

What is Reclast for?

  • The treatment and prevention of osteoporosis

  • The reduction of new fractures in the hip, spine and other bones

  • The treatment of Paget's disease of the bone

How does Reclast work?

One annual dose of Reclast, along with Calcium and Vitamin D, helps to increase bone density, strengthening your bones and protecting them from fracture for an entire year.

What do I need?

You will need a prescription from the referring physician, such as your primary care doctor or OB/GYN.  Have your physician fax the order to us, and bring a copy on the day of treatment. The order must state:

  1. Indication for treatment (i.e. osteoporosis prevention, senile osteoporosis, gluocorticoid-induced osteoporosis)
  2. The reason for Reclast infusion (i.e. intolerant of oral meds, noncompliant or ineffective)
  3. Serum calcium, BUN and creatinine (required blood tests)

What can I expect?

  • You should eat normally and drink two glasses of fluid within a few hours before receiving Reclast.

  • Reclast is given by IV in one of our infusion rooms, and takes approximately 15 minutes.

  • After treatment, you may resume normal activities.
