Pharmacy Admixture Technician
Job Description: Chemotherapy Technician
Title of the position to which the job reports: Nurse Team Leader
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Prepares doses prescribed by physician following pharmacy medication guidelines by verifying medication pre-certification before preparing dose and by calculating doss based upon BSA, Creatinine Clearance and AUC. Compares with previous doses for consistency
- Works closely with Nurses to verify doses
- Calculates, prepares and logs ambulatory pumps.
- Produces and maintains adequate inventory of I.V. sets, needles, solutions and supplies. Monitors and attempts to maintain an adequate supply of drug samples.
- Cleans and maintains chemo hood and records temperature of refrigerator daily.
- Accurately records billing units on Lynx Superbill.
- Maintains pharmaceutical inventory
- Maintains Lynx Machine inventory
- Properly inventories drug shipment into Lynx daily
Accountable to: Physician supervisor, Nursing Team Leader
Primary Areas with which the job coordinates work: Nursing, IS department
Requirements:
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
- Certified pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
- Chemotherapy certified
- 2 years experience in Pharmacy Technician position
- Oncology experience
- Experience in Pyxis or Lynx system a plus
- High School degree

Oncology Nursing Position
Title of the position to which the job reports: Team Manager for Therapeutics and Pharmacology
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Staff RN for satellite locations. Presently Hinsdale and Bolingbrook
- Glean from patient records, needs of patients during office visit.
- Interface with laboratory technicians regarding these needs.
- Interface with laboratory technicians regarding lab results and decisions to be made.
- Interface with physicians for continuity and excellence of care to our patients.
- Careful and accurate preparation and administration of chemotherapeutic drugs.
- Proficiency in venous access, peripheral and by all venous access devices.
- Phone triaging
- Proficient in venous access, peripheral and all venous access devices
- Patient and family teaching of chemotherapeutic regime, with knowledge level compatible with task.
- Co-ordinate out-patient services with other ancillary departments.
Budget staffing and other dimensions that this job controls or impacts/decision making authority: Participation in investigational protocol research, randomization of patients, and completion of protocol records, if applicable. Confidence to make patient decisions in a supervised situation. Documentation of patient outcomes in electronic medical record program.
Overall requirements for knowledge, skills and certification:
- Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Illinois
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, recommended and preferred
- Oncology Certified Nurse, recommended. If not currently OCN, certification will be required as position is carried out.
- Updated OCN certification required as set forth by ONS.
- Expertise in venous access.
- Computer literacy
