'Cancer' is not a single diagnosis. It is a host of different diseases. Blood disorders, benign and malignant, affect different individuals in different ways. Our purpose at Hinsdale Hematology Oncology Associates is to apply the most advanced medical solutions, combined with our years of professional experience, judgment and skill, to diagnose and treat patients who have Cancer and Blood Disorders with current and compassionate care. Each professional recruited for HHOA's team - physicians, certified oncology nurses, laboratory, technical, and administrative staff alike - is committed to offering the best available support to each of the patients and families we are privileged to serve, based not only on diagnosis and disease-state, but also on their unique and personal needs. By design, our practice is small (so we can know each other well), local (so we can be close-at-hand when you need us), and comfortable (so you can retain your individuality and dignity even in a clinical setting). At every level, and in each service we deliver, Hinsdale Hematology Oncology Associates seeks to cure whenever possible. We promise to care always.

Hinsdale Hematology-Oncology Associates is a medical specialty group of doctors and allied professionals concentrating on the care of patients with cancer or disorders of the blood. The physicians in this practice are on the staff of Hinsdale and Good Samaritan Hospitals. In addition, some of our physicians are members of the teaching faculty of Northwestern University Medical School and all participate in several national research consortiums - the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), and the National Surgical Adjuviant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP). Through these and other affiliations, we are able to offer state of the art medical care and special services such as experimental chemotherapy, immunologic and biologic modifier therapy, autologous bone marrow transplants, and genetic risk assessment

All our physicians are accepting new patients at this time. After making your appointment, the secretaries will discuss with you the necessary documents needed to insure that your consultation with the doctor is complete. It is imperative that these records be brought in with you at the time of visit. This way you will be certain that records have not been delayed in the mailing or fax process. If you have any questions regarding the retrieval of your records our secretaries will give you direction. Following is a typical list of the records needed for the initial consultation:
  • Pathology report
  • Pathology slides (except if biopsy was obtained at Hinsdale Hospital)
  • X-rays and scans (films as well as reports)
  • Hospital discharge summary (if hospitalized)
  • Operative report (if surgery performed)
  • Pertinent laboratory results (especially if a hematology consult)
  • Radiation or chemotherapy reports (if treated in the past)
  • Medication list
  • Insurance Card (referral if required by your plan)

For your records, you will receive a statement for services when there is a balance owed by you. Otherwise no statement will be sent to you from our office.

Payment for initial consultation services is required at the time of service, unless you are insured by a managed care organization with which we participate; HMO/POS/PPO patients are expected to pay any co-pay or encounter fee at the time of service.

We will work directly with your insurance company for claims processing. We hope that you will monitor your insurance explanations of benefits for accuracy and appropriate benefit ammounts. It is your responsibility to remit any applicable co-insurance and deductible balances in a timely fashion. Our contract to provide service is with YOU; therefore, all insurance disputes are ultimately between you, our patient, and us.
